New Year’s Challenge

FROM THE MID-ATLANTIC REGIONAL BISHOP

New Year’s Challenge

I take this opportunity to wish a Happy New Year to the faithful and precious leadership, laities, supporters, and friends. Because of your faithfulness and love together, we were able to accomplish amazing things for the Lord in the region. Yes, there has bas been unprecedented challenges; the loss of precious loved ones, some by doting tragedies, sicknesses, not to mention the hardship that the COVID pandemic has placed on our usual Christian fellowship. However, as we approach the twilight of 2022, we do have ample reasons to thank God for how he has spared us.

Based on all that we have heard, seen, and have experienced during 2021, it is easy to fall into despair, fear, and pessimism. However, I feel that it is time for us Christians to reach back and lay hold on the faithfulness of our sovereign God. The psalmist Davidsaid, “And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee” [Psalm 9”10]. Moses’ assurance when faced with insurmountable challenges was his reliance on the presence of God; “…. If thy presence goes not with me, carry us not up hence” [Ex.33:15].

Vern McLellan said, “What the New Year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the new year.”

I challenge you to ask yourself the question, what will Ibring into the New Year, 2022? Will you be driven by fear to bring the doom and gloom of 2021 into 2022? I am choosing to take the name of Jesus with me. The name that is above all names. The name that demons fear. I encourage you to do the same!

We do not live by sight, but by faith! Yes, things may get worse before they get better, but with Lord on our side we will make it!

Again, a Happy and prosperous 2022! To you and your family!

Sincerely,

Levi Clarke
