Shore Excursions – Private Tours
Prices subject to change. We will send out final pricing 4 months prior to the cruise
We will offer a Pre-cruise package in Rome (about $400)

Rome Tour, Hotel & Transfers package (Two nights and 2 meals per day included in package):

Rome â€“ Day 1: â€œHighlights of Rome Tour”. Our first stops will be the Colosseum, Crypt of the Capuccini Monks, and the Pantheon. We’ll begin our exploration of the Eternal City with an inside guided visit of this Imperial Roman symbol of power. Continue to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain, which is one of Rome’s most spectacular fountains. Stops on the tour will include many of the other significant Rome sites (depending on time).

Vatican and LDS Temple â€“ Today will feature a tour of the Vatican and half day at the LDS temple. Our bus will pick us up from the hotel and take us to the Vatican where we will have a guided tour through the museum and St. Peter’s Basilica.

Athens and Corinth:

We will start the morning by traveling out to ancient Corinth. Here we will see the remnants of the ancient city where Paul established a branch of the church. From there we will go to Athens, where we will visit the Acropolis. Here you will see the Parthenon that was dedicated to goddess Athena (Parthenos) as well as the other temples found on the top of the ancient, sacred site. We will also visit Mars Hill and the Agora where Paul addressed the council regarding their “unknown god”.

After free time for lunch in Plaka we’ll drive through the city centre to the area of the  Flea Market (street bazaar, antique stores) where we’ll visit the Ancient Agora and do a city tour by bus. $110

Haifa & Jerusalem, Israel: We have decided to do an overnight stay in Jerusalem. This gives us a couple more hours in Jerusalem on day two and allow us to see more sites, do a little shopping (we’ll take everybody, who would like to go, to an olive wood shop in the evening), and get a better feel for the food and culture of Israel. $575.

Day 1Jerusalem, Israel (Ashdod): We will begin this tour atop the Mount of Olives where we will have a panoramic view of the Old City and Dome of the Rock. We will then go to the Western Wall and go through the Western Wall tunnel tour. From there we will visit the Old City, starting with the Pools of Bethesda and St. Anne’s church. We will walk through the Old City, ending up at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where some Christians believe the death and burial of Christ took place. Here we will give you some free time to shop, eat and visit the church.

We will then walk to Mount Zion and visit the House of Caiaphas and Church of Gallacantu, the site where Jesus was taken to the High Priest after coming out of Gethsemane. In the late afternoon, we will visit the City of David and Hezekiah’s tunnel. We will check in at the hotel. For those who would like, we will take you to Jimmy’s olive wood shop after dinner.

Day 2: Jerusalem & Bethlehem. Day 2 we will visit any of the sites in Jerusalem missed from the first day as well as visit Bethlehem.

Day 3: Haifa: We’ll get off the ship as early as possible and make our way through the northern parts of Israel and the Sea of Galilee region. This is the area where many of Christ’s greatest teachings and miracles took place. We will first head far north to Tel Dan & Caesarea Phillipi. These were the northern borders of ancient Israel. It is the location where Peter declared his witness of Christ and was promised the keys of the kingdom. From there, we will visit Capernaum, where we will see the remnants of the synagogue where Christ possibly taught. We will discuss the miracles that took place here. We will take a boat ride onto the Sea of Galilee and visit one the proposed sites for the Mount of Beatitudes. Time permitting, we will visit Mount Carmel, where Elijah’s miraculous confrontation with the priests of Baal took place. Return to ship.

Naples, Italy: From Naples, we will go to Pompeii & the Amalfi Coast.

This archaeological site is considered to be the world’s finest example of a Roman town and its way of life. In 79 AD, the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius buried the town under 20 feet of ash and pumice stone, preserving the entire city. During the walking tour of the ruins, admire the mansions and art of wealthy patricians who moved to Pompeii to escape the turmoil of Rome; view countless paintings and inscriptions and the streets with raised pavements on either side. At intersections are stepping-stones that ensured pedestrians a safe crossing. This prosperous Roman City had an extensive forum, lavish baths, temples and villas richly decorated with frescoes. Excavations have revealed details of everyday life such as the wine jars still set in the counter of the wine shop. Following our visit to Pompeii, we will drive down the beautiful Amalfi coast stopping in one of the villages that overlook the ocean. Price $100.

Kusadasi, Turkey: Ephesus – The cruise ships are finally returning to Turkey. This is another great stop where we will be able to witness Greco-Roman life during the times of the apostle Paul. We will visit the ancient site of Ephesus, where Paul helped establish a branch of the Church and probably taught the people from the theater. $75
